Fifteen Cubans whose rickety boat reached remnants of the old Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys were sent back to Cuba earlier this month because the bridge is missing some sections and doesn’t touch land. Had they grabbed a pier of the adjacent new bridge, they could have stayed.
Should Congress rewrite its Cuban policy to welcome a reasonable number of immigrants each year? What do you think about the current policy? Tell us what you think.

I’ve read xenophobic comments made from cubans regarding the unducumented immigrants coming from mexico. they’ve pretty much said that they want all the illegals out!!! that’s hitting border line hypocricy don’t you think? aren’t they illegals until they touch land, than by the art of magic become legal. What if the wet/dry foot law didn’t excist, what would they’re opinion on illegal immigrans be??

My great-grandmother from Greece watched her family slowly leave for America. Finally, her husband died after immigration visas were harder to come by.
There is something to be said for waiting in line at Ellis Island. Who is to say, Cubans are more important than Greeks? Or Bosnians?
What happens is, the people come and live in Miami area. They do not have to learn English, and by doing so do not understand car contracts, home contracts and basic financial instruments that could cost them years with the wrong advise. I have even seen “Spanish companies” prey upon new home buyers with exorbitant fees in home mortgages. We all need the same rules.

No more immigrants! It’s up to the leaders of the other countries to take care of their own people. The United States is FULL.
